Summary
Faced with the challenge of defending the orthodoxy of the Evangelical Reformation against attacks from the Catholic Church, the early Reformers tended to regard all other competing groups as an undifferentiated threat, generally under the heading of Schwärmerei (fanatics). In their eyes these movements were dangerously subjective and seditious – a threat to both the Reformation cause and to good public order. Thus, in his 1528 tract Von der Widertauffe Martin Luther described his opponents as “wild-eyed fanatics,” bent on destroying godly order in church and society. Two years later Luther’s colleague Philip Melanchthon depicted them as “angels of the devil” whose only interest was to sow seeds of confusion and division.

Objective.
To identify the behavioral determinants—both barriers and enablers—that may impact physician hand hygiene compliance.
Design.A qualitative study involving semistructured key informant interviews with staff physicians and residents.
Setting. An urban, 1,100-bed multisite tertiary care Canadian hospital.
Participants.A total of 42 staff physicians and residents in internal medicine and surgery.
Methods.Semistructured interviews were conducted using an interview guide that was based on the theoretical domains framework (TDF), a behavior change framework comprised of 14 theoretical domains that explain health-related behavior change. Interview transcripts were analyzed using thematic content analysis involving a systematic 3-step approach: coding, generation of specific beliefs, and identification of relevant TDF domains.
Results.Similar determinants were reported by staff physicians and residents and between medicine and surgery. A total of 53 specific beliefs from 9 theoretical domains were identified as relevant to physician hand hygiene compliance. The 9 relevant domains were knowledge; skills; beliefs about capabilities; beliefs about consequences; goals; memory, attention, and decision processes; environmental context and resources; social professional role and identity; and social influences.
Conclusions. We identified several key determinants that physicians believe influence whether and when they practice hand hygiene at work. These beliefs identify potential individual, team, and organization targets for behavior change interventions to improve physician hand hygiene compliance.

There can be no question but that the great principles of freedom of conscience, separation of church and state and voluntarism in religion, so basic in American Protestantism and so essential to democracy, ultimately are derived from the Anabaptists of the Reformation period.
With these confident words, Harold S. Bender introduced the main theme of his presidential address at the fifty-fifth meeting of the American Society of Church History, held at Columbia University on 28 Dec. 1943. In the decades that followed, Bender's speech—which he titled.

Plotting defect locations in insulating SiC presents a challenge because the total number of locations on a wafer is so large. We scan the wafer with visible light at an appropriate resolution and sort out transmissions appropriate for the defects we are looking for. Under these conditions, we find that voids and micropipes reduce the pixel transmission to 0.3 to 0.5. Sorting for this transmission reduces the number of pixels of interest to a manageable number, especially with recent progress in growing lower defect SiC. Now a commercial plotting program can easily display defect locations within a circle representing the wafer boundary. We verify the defect locations by scanning electron microscope secondary electron images and scanning optical microscope visible-light images at several resolutions.

Type I or ionic comet tails on the average make an angle of a few degrees at the nucleus with the prolonged radius vector in the direction opposite to the comet’s orbital motion. This fact was explained by Biermann (1951) as the aberration angle caused by the comet’s motion in the outflowing solar wind plasma, and, as is well known, led to the discovery of the solar wind itself.
